Selena was given the role of Mitchie Torres in Wizards of Waverly Place, but she turned it down to allow Demi Lovato to take the lead, according to David DeLuise, who portrayed the Rare Beauty founder’s father on the show.

“They offered Camp Rock to Selena,” David revealed in an unearthed 2020 podcast interview with Wildchat Sports. “And she knew that if she didn’t take it, Demi would.”

He went on, “So she declined, which was extremely kind of her. They were also pals. They appeared together on the program Barney.”

The Jonas Brothers appeared in the 2008 Disney Channel original film, which followed a group of kids going to summer camp to concentrate on their music. It was followed by a sequel two years later, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.
